To help ensure no one misses the action on the court while attending a basketball or volleyball game at the University of South Dakota Vermillion, Sightline Commercial Solutions designed a media viewing section in the stands. The media risers are made up of SC90® Platforms, SC90 Fixed Height Legs, IBC Guardrails, and stage skirting to provide a polished look for the understructure of the platforms. Keeping the stadium’s layout in place and requiring no removal of any chairs, the equipment for the media risers is conveniently installed over a handful of existing seats in the arena. The key to making this project such a success was properly outfitting how the platforms would span over the patron seats by performing an appropriate site measurement. This site measurement ensured a good fit for the platforms and correlating equipment and ensured the platforms would clear the height of the chairs. Keeping the design simple with as many similar or interchangeable parts as possible makes for quicker setups, take downs, and transitions. Any media personnel needed for USD now has sufficient space to setup their cameras, tablets, and chairs for ample recording and writing during each game.
