Northrop Auditorium at the University of Minnesota is one of the state’s most treasured theaters and has been hosting concerts, dance performances, lectures, graduation ceremonies and more for over 90 years. When the multipurpose space needed interior restorations to ensure it could continue to accommodate the many events on its schedule, Sightline Commercial Solutions was tasked with creating a seating wagon solution. Minimalist in style but sturdy in design, the lightweight wagon not only affords additional seating, it also features hard panel skirting around the perimeter and acoustical sound dampening on the underside. Mounted on high-end casters and tracks, two people can quickly and easily move it into storage when not in use. A pit filler platform system was also installed to allow the second row of wagons to become level with the pit area. Additionally, Sightline Commercial Solutions provided platforms to host sound mixing equipment, ensuring the Golden Gophers’ beloved venue will remain a well-rounded, highly configurable and versatile facility for years to come.
